How long will my chocolates stay fresh?
Our handcrafted chocolates will stay fresh for 2 to 3 months as long as they are stored in a cool, dry place, like a cupboard. Never store them in the refrigerator; exposure to moisture can discolor the chocolate (though it has no effect on flavor.) Storing chocolates in a location that is too warm can have the same effect.
Are your chocolates gluten-free?
Most of our products are gluten-free, though we are not gluten-free certified, so there is a slight possibility of cross-contamination. If you have specific dietary restrictions, please ask our team members during your store visit, or send us an email, and we can provide suggestions that hopefully meet your needs.
Do you take custom orders?
We do! Because our team is small we are often able to handcraft items specific to your needs, whether that's wedding favors, items with a company logo, or an idea that's all your own. Email us through our Contact form, or give us a call at the shop to start a discussion.
Can I order and pay online, but pick my order up at the store?
Yes. When placing your order online, just choose "pickup" and we will notify you when your order has been fulfilled. It'll be waiting for you at our shop and you can pick it up at your convenience.
What is your return policy?
Since we sell food items, we're not able to accept returns. However, if there is a problem with your purchase, please let us know and we'll do our best to make it right for you. Email us through our Contact form, or give us a call at the shop.
Shipping FAQs
How long will it take to receive my online order?
Because every order is handcrafted and packaged with care, it may take our chocolatier up to a week to make and package your order. Then we drop your package at USPS. Once accepted by the carrier, the package is scanned, and that's when the tracking process begins - whether that's Priority, First Class or Express Mail. USPS does not guarantee specific arrival dates; all dates provided during checkout are estimates. During our busy holiday seasons, it's possible that your shipment could take a little longer.
Most of our shipments are sent out Monday through Wednesday in order to avoid having the chocolates sit over the weekend in a warehouse. Depending on your order day and current outdoor temperatures, your package may be held until the following Monday to ensure minimal time in transit.
Do you ship during the summer?
We do. During warmer months, we provide insulated packaging to help keep the chocolate cool while in transit, though we can make no guarantees of its condition upon arrival. A fee is added to the shipping cost to help with these extra materials.
How are shipping costs calculated?
Shipping costs are based on weight and include a nominal handling charge to cover our packaging costs. Once your order has been fulfilled by our shop, you will receive a confirmation email that provides a tracking number.
I'm planning to send gifts to several friends. Can I do that all from one order?
Yes. From the cart page, just check the box that says, "Ship to multiple addresses" and from there, you can designate each item to a specific person, with an individual message. You can even choose to pick up some of your items in our store, if you'd like. All taxes and shipping costs will be calculated, and you only need to pay once. Under the FAQs tab, read our helpful tips in "Ship to Multiple Addresses."
How to Ship to Multiple Addresses
You can ship to multiple people just by placing ONE order! Follow these steps for efficient ordering.
STEP 1: Add all products that will be shipped to all addresses to your cart. Be sure you add everything you'd like to order. If you're going to send an item to more than one recipient, you can add just one of that item to your cart, and then ship another from the cart page.
STEP 2: Proceed to the cart and select "Ship to multiple addresses".
STEP 3: For each product listed, add the shipping address. If any item is an "in-store pickup" item, then add your own address; later you will be able to specify that you will pick it up in-store.
NOTE: You have the option to ship another of any product in your cart to someone new just by clicking a new address box, which prompts you to add another address.
When you're finished assigning your items, click "Continue".
STEP 4: Select a shipping rate for each address, add To/From/Message and click "Checkout".
You will see your orders and any shipping costs and taxes. Fill out your billing information and place your order...one payment, multiple deliveries!

During warmer months, we adjust our packaging to help protect your chocolate as best we can while it is in transit. All packages contain an insulated liner and ice pack to help keep the chocolate cool while it is on its way to you. Though we can’t make any guarantees, this generally protects the chocolate well. We are unable to issue refunds or replace products damaged by extreme temperatures. Please read on for important information:
- During the summer, we ship packages Monday through Wednesday to limit the time in transit so your order doesn’t sit over the weekend in a warm warehouse
- Please arrange delivery to an air-conditioned location, where your package will quickly be brought indoors. If a package sits outside, or in a warm mailbox, melting could occur
- When placing your online order, select a shipping option that will get your chocolate to you as soon as possible
- A fee will automatically be added to the selected shipping option to help offset the cost of additional labor and insulated packaging
Should I add an Ice Pack?
If the outdoor temperature of your shipping destination is typically 75 degrees or warmer, we highly suggest adding an ice pack to your order to help protect the items during transit. We are unable to guarantee the condition of the product upon arrival if the package has been exposed to warm temperatures without the protection of an ice pack. Also, select Priority Shipping for prompt delivery. Click here to access the ice pack product page, then click Add to Cart.
Gift Subscriptions
How Gift Subscriptions Work
Treat friends, family, coworkers, clients or yourself to a monthly delivery of some of Deiter's Chocolates' best-selling items. Here's how it works:
Browse our Gift Subscriptions Collection and choose the items you'd like to send. Then select from our 3, 6 or 12 month delivery plans. You'll be charged automatically each month until the subscription period ends. After you place your initial order, subsequent orders for delivery will be placed on the same day of the month as the original order.
Shipping Gift Subscriptions
All subscription items are shipped to their recipients; in-store pickup is not an option in the checkout process. The least expensive shipping rate is automatically applied during checkout.
Please place each subscription order individually; do not combine a subscription order with other items intended to be shipped to a different address.
Can I Ship Gift Subscriptions to Multiple Addresses?
Our "Ship to Multiple Addresses" option is not compatible with the subscriptions process.
Can I edit the Gift Subscription?
You can manage your subscription through a link provided in your order confirmation email, or by logging into your Deiter's Chocolates account.
You may view, edit, pause or cancel your subscription.
